Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition #8

Thank you to Shabby Blogs (http://shabbyblogs.com/) for the free frame!

Happy Thursday, everyone! And welcome to a new feature on Buried Under Romance and Love Saves the World.

What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past -- usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Mary of Buried Under Romance and I are unapologetic lovers of historical romances, we've decided to focus on our beloved genre.

Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.

This week, I'm featuring Lisa Kleypas's debut novel:

Where Passion Leads by Lisa Kleypas, published in 1987

Blurb: (taken from Goodreads)

"Love, be still," he whispered, and slipped one arm around her back as he wonderingly stroked her yielding flesh, arousing her with the sensitive brush of his fingers. "You're perfect ..."

Beautiful young Rosalie Belleau was swept up into an aristocratic world of luxury, license and intricate intrigue when the most notorious and handsome rake in London, Lord Randall Berkeley, abducted her in the belief that she was any man's for the taking. Before he realized his mistake, he had branded her with his desire -- and lost his heart to this girl so unlike any he had ever known. Both Rosalie, waking to womanhood, and Sir Randall, learning the power of love, were in the dark about each other -- until the flames of passion lit their way through a labyrinth of danger ... to the dazzling heights of ecstasy ...

I only discovered Lisa Kleypas when I restarted reading romance novels in 2006 and, by then, her first few books had been long out of print and haven't been reprinted. If you take a look at the price range for Where Passion Leads on Amazon, it goes from $17+ to $200+ for a copy! I was really happy when Love Come To Me was reprinted in 2011 so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping Lisa Kleypas agrees to have her older books to be reprinted as well.

For the curious, my favorite Lisa Kleypas titles are: Again the Magic (which I recommend to everyone who wants to start reading romance), Married by Morning (Leo Hathaway's story) and Stranger in My Arms (which reminds me of the movie Sommersby). ^_^

  1. hehe, I've chosen a Lisa Kleypas novel too. :) My second favorite in Lisa Kleypas' collection is Leo Hathaway's story as well. I haven't tried her books beyond her Wallflowers and Hathaways series and I'll try if I could find copies of the favorites you listed here and read them.

  5. This is a rare one, Mary! The most I've paid for an OOP book was around $8 for a really old (kinda moldy) copy of Heartless by Mary Balogh -- but that was such an amazing read as well.

Renee, I'm so jealous! Is it a personal copy or a library copy?

Kipha, she's an auto-buy for me. I'm resisting her contemporary series because I'm hoping she returns to writing HRs soon. ^
