Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition

Thank you to Shabby Blogs (http://shabbyblogs.com/) for the free frame!

Happy Thursday, everyone! And welcome to a new feature on Buried Under Romance and Love Saves the World.

What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past -- usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Mary of Buried Under Romance and I are unapologetic lovers of historical romances, we've decided to focus on our beloved genre.

Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.

The Book Of Scandal by Julia London, published August 2008

Blurb:
Nathan Grey, the Earl of Lindsey, is infamously known as the Libertine of Lindsey for his scandalous ways with women. But when he hears gossip that his estranged wife, Evelyn, is about to be named in The Book of Scandal, he has no choice but to remove her from London to protect her and himself from charges of treason -- even if it calls for abduction! While Evelyn has no legal recourse against the man who broke her heart years ago but is still considered her lord and master, she is no longer the immature girl Nathan married. Her enforced homecoming quickly turns into a battle of wills that tears down her husband's defenses and lays bare the passion that still burns between them. Before it is too late, Nathan must confront powerful adversaries as he convinces Evelyn that she is not only his wife, but the one woman he will love for all time.

I thought about this book after I finished reading Lily Dalton's Never Desire a Duke. Both couples suffered a devastating loss, which led to their estrangement. Julia London chose to take a very dramatic and highly emotional tone in telling her story, and I loved it. I remember crying over the angry confrontations between Nathan and Evelyn. This was also the first book in a really amazing series.

    1. Hi, Renee!

I'm a bit behind in my reading of her books. Haven't started her new series. My favourite book in this series was A Courtesan's Scandal -- that was a challenging relationship to work around. ^_^

      Happy TBT!

  2. I was really into Julia London a few years ago. I remember liking this one. I have read Never Desire a Duke and completely agree with how well they compliment one another. I have had a hard time with her newest series, but I'm hoping things will turn around soon.
