Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition #48

Thank you to Shabby Blogs ( for the free frame!

Happy Thursday, everyone! And welcome to a new feature on Buried Under Romance and Love Saves the World.

What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past -- usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Mary of Buried Under Romance and I are unapologetic lovers of historical romances, we've decided to focus on our beloved genre.

Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.

As You Desire by Connie Brockway, published January 1997

In Connie Brockway’s mesmerizing tale of romance and adventure, a notorious treasure hunter realizes that the greatest jewel of all is the woman before his eyes.

Kidnapped, drugged, and about to be sold to the highest bidder, Desdemona Carlisle is having a hell of a time maintaining her English pride. Then she sees the man in black, galloping through the Egyptian desert on a pure white steed. Desdemona could not have conjured a more dashing savior in her wildest fantasies. But an unlikelier hero would be impossible to find: Harry Braxton is a rogue, a scoundrel, and a born opportunist -- who has already broken Desdemona’s heart once before.

As brilliant as she is beautiful, Desdemona still hasn’t learned how to stay out of trouble -- which suits Harry just fine. Running from a painful past, and rumored to be involved in nefarious endeavors, Harry will never be a proper match for Desdemona. But when she catches the eye of his cousin, the irritatingly honorable Lord Blake Ravenscroft, Harry vows to claim his one true desire, once and for all.

I only discovered Connie Brockway's works when I read The Other Guy's Bride, and found out it was a follow-up to this book, As You Desire, which is a fan favourite of readers. I haven't read it ... yet, but it's on my list. I really enjoy adventure romances, especially when done right and, if The Other Guy's Bride is any indication, this one promises to be a fun read. ^_^

  1. I have this on my list! Connie is just so awesome! And I too found her through The Other Guy's Bride. And she lives not so far from me~ :D

    1. I haven't read a lot of her books, but the ones that I've read are amazing. ^_^

  2. I freaking love this book! Harry is one of my all-time favorite heroes and Dizzy is so much fun. Thanks for reminding me that I am due for a re-read.

    1. Now I'm more excited to read this! I really enjoyed The Other Guy's Bride. ^_^

  3. I haven't read anything by Connie Brockway - except for her novellas in Julia Quinn's anthologies - and this sounds fun!

    1. Hi, Rika!

The Other Guy's Bride would be a good place to start. ^_^ It's a lovely adventure story.

  4. Connie Brockway!!
Oh I enjoy her books. :-)
I first heard of her through a friend who said I had to get and read her book My Dearest Enemy.
    What a book, loved it!
After I finished that book I knew I had to read as many of her books that I could get my hands on.
All Through The Night is a must read if you ask me, great book.
The Rose Hunters is another trilogy that I really enjoyed reading.
She has quite a list for sure, but I'm more into her historical books, I haven't read any of her contemporaries.
