Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition

Thank you to Shabby Blogs (http://shabbyblogs.com/) for the free frame!

Happy Thursday, everyone! And welcome to a new feature on Buried Under Romance and Love Saves the World.

What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past -- usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Mary of Buried Under Romance and I are unapologetic lovers of historical romances, we've decided to focus on our beloved genre.

Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.

The Education of Mrs. Brimley by Donna MacMeans, published October 2007

Blurb:
Emma Brimley made one small fib in her application to teach at the Pettibone School for Young Ladies: She claimed to be a widow. But when she arrives in Yorkshire, she is dismayed to learn that she's expected to prepare her students for the intimacies of marriage -- of which she knows nothing! Her only hope of maintaining her place lies with the alluring Lord Nicholas Chambers, a neighboring artist whose behavior is scarcely consistent with that of a gentleman.

True to his reputation, "Lord Bedchambers" offers Emma a scandalous bargain: He will answer her questions about anatomy and bedroom etiquette if she will pose for him ... in the Grecian fashion. Though keenly aware of the dangers of such a scenario, Emma determines to best this noble roué -- never thinking she may be risking her heart as well.

I only just discovered that Donna MacMeans recently published The Whisky Laird's Bed, the follow-up to her The Casanova Code. I'm featuring Donna MacMeans's debut novel, which I remember reading and enjoying. (I actually completed the series, which were published from 2007 to 2011.) She also writes contemporaries as Donna Richards.

  2. I read this and gave it 3 stars, I think. I never read any more of hers, but I may check them out. The Casanova Code sounds intriguing...
